Idiotic Oddity
re-brand • new logo
The Ask
Idiotic Oddity is a musician who is primarily a mix of pop and hip/hop with a healthy blend of EDM and funk elements, creating a sound that is upbeat, fun and emotionally charged. They were looking for a brand refresh to create a cohesive identity system.
Fun Fact: I actually created the original logo so, it was fun to go back and refresh my work after becoming more knowledgeable about creating identity systems.
The Before
When I first began working with Idiotic Oddity back in 2015, I was a marketing major who just did design work for fun. I had no knowledge, just gut feelings.
The result - no brand identity! There was no consistency in fonts, style, colors…I didn’t know what an identity system even was, so I had no idea what to look for or think about. Scroll down though, I promise it gets better!
Stylescape
When creating a brand identity, it’s important to me to understand what my client is looking for so we can get on the same page from the start. A stylescape is a type of curated mood board that helps me and the client get on the same page. Nothing in the stylescape is designed by me - instead I scour the internet for inspiration and do some slight editing to make it all come together.
The first step is to get an understanding of where the brand is currently and what the vision is. Some points we discussed included:
Industry
Mission
Target Demographic
Positioning
Brand Attributes
Logo aesthetics
The Result
A new, fresh brand identity was created that fits who Idiotic Oddity has grown into as an artist. The deliverables included:
New logo
New brand identity
New brand sheet
